Is anyone else still freaking out?
The days have quickly turned to weeks, and if you pay even the slightest attention to the news or social media, it's pretty gloomy out there.
As our worlds have gotten smaller and smaller, the peaceful space of our homes are starting to feel more like a prison than pleasant. We miss our friends, our coworkers, eating out, shopping, travel, the list goes on.
Yet, there is always a light at the end of each tunnel.
How many deployments have you found yourself in the darkest depression you thought your body could endure, only to experience the euphoric, happy high when your loved one came back home to you?
How many times have you packed up everything you owned and moved across the country? No friends, no family, no job, new territory, terrified of the unknown. Only to make the very best of friends, fall in love with your job, and find it hard to picture ever living anywhere else.
Military families are known for their resiliency and adaptability. With all of the unknown factors in the world right now, it would be so easy to focus on the negative. See only the scary, and safely hide under the blankets. However, you have been through worse; you are better than fear. Fight for your sanity and your future by choosing to focus on the positive.
Find gratitude. What are three things right now that you can focus on to improve your mood?
Did you eat today? (Probably ate more than you should, if you are anything like the rest of us).
Do you have a roof over your head?
Do you have people that love you?
There are so many small positive things we can focus on right now.
The day to day moments we miss and take for granted because we are too 'busy.' Make a list of everything you are missing right now. Call it your COVID- 19 Bucket List.
What are the things you want the most when this is over, and what will you never take for granted again.
