PBS has remembered those who paid the ultimate price for our country with The National Memorial Day Concert for the past three decades. This yearly event has become a time-honored American tradition.
After two years of virtual presentations, this year's Capital Concerts event was live in Washington, D.C.
Hosted by Tony Award-winner Joe Mantegna and Emmy Award-winner Gary Sinise, these distinguished actors have dedicated themselves to veteran causes. Plus, they continue to support our active-duty service members. They will be joined by notable actors and singers who will take viewers on a 90-minute journey into the past and pay tribute to those who have paved the way for our nation’s freedom today.
The 33rd National Memorial Day Concert aired on PBS and YouTube on Sunday, May 29, 2022. During the 90-minutes, men and women in uniform, veterans, their families, and those who gave their lives for our country were honored and memorialized.
The Association of Military Spouse Entrepreneurs (AMSE™️) was invited to be a part of an interview with one of the evening’s presenters.
I sat down with Tony Award-nominated star of stage and screen Mary McCormack (Heels, West Wing), as she pays tribute to the Women in World War II. Several of these trailblazing female veterans were part of the segment.
“Patriotism is being proud of our country, our ideals, and our values, and also excepting that we are a work in progress and we have to keep ourselves accountable for those values. It’s a word that does get thrown around a lot. I think we have to all accept that word. Regardless of what political party you are, patriotism is a word that should be for everybody. And it means loving our country and our freedom, and it also means expecting more from our country.
The National Memorial Day Concert will also air on the American Forces Network and YouTube and will be available on-demand from May 29th to June 12, 2022.
